Cascadia Research Collective is a 501(c)3 non-profit research and education organization founded in 1979. Most of our research focuses on studies of whales and dolphins along the west coast of North America and in Hawaii. Since 2006 Cascadia has been using satellite telemetry to examine the movements and habitat use of a number of species of small whales in Hawaiian waters, and in 2008 this work expanded to include studies of killer whales in Washington state, and Cuvier’s beaked whales and fin whales off California. These studies are being undertaken in conjunction with collaborators from NOAA Fisheries and the Alaska SeaLife Center.
