The Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center (NPWRC), located in North Dakota, is part of the Biological Resources Division of the U.S. Geological Survey. Through its research, the NPWRC seeks to determine the numbers and distribution of different plant and animal species, and to study the effects of habitat loss and modification on them. The NPWRC studies a number of different species, including birds, butterflies and moths, amphibians, and mammals.
